H2S INDUCED LOCALIZED CORROSION OF AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL BELLOW: A CASE STUDY

Abstract

Mechanical and metallographic tests were conducted to determine the causes of corrosion in the ventilation valves of oil tanks at the Hamada field. Through examining these tests and analyzing the corrosion products on the valve surface using X-ray, it was found that wet hydrogen sulfide gas is the main cause of corrosion in these valves made of 32 stainless steel.( Translation )
