Abstract
Silver benzoate and bromine react in a heterogeneous phase with certain aromatic compounds and alkanes. Data on the ratios of bromination reaction on primary, secondary, and tertiary hydrogens suggest a mechanism involving an electrophilic radical attack as most probable in the presence of certain intermediates.
